Make this annual holiday event a family tradition and create lasting memories. Music Director Grant Harville will conduct this matinee performance with the Orchestra and Symphonic Choir performing the season’s favorite music. You can sing along to carols and you may even get a glimpse of Santa.
Karolju is Christopher Rouse’s original suite of carols for orchestra and choir, with a nod to Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Listen for the paraphrased “O Fortuna.” From the San Francisco Chronicle review:“Vivacious rhythms and sweet, simple harmonies”and“[it’s] carol-icious.”
An Evergreen Christmas combines “Oh Christmas Tree,” “The Holly and the Ivy,” and “Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly” in a medley that is both rousing and tender. A Charlie Brown Christmas began as a low-budget soundtrack for a 1965 television special (each member of the Vince Guaraldi Trio was paid just $128 for their initial work. ) Jazzy, whimsical and joyous, it defied expectations, became a massive hit, and joined the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007.
